Man Up
We have lost something in this country. In our society. Men today, as a whole, have lost their protector mentality. There are too many examples, almost daily it seems, of women and elderly people being attacked in broad daylight with bystanders nearby and no one does ANYTHING. It’s sickening to me.
This isn’t a statement about men and women, who is more capable, biology, toxic masculinity or any woke topic you want to drag into it. This is about men being men and protecting our society. If you are male and there is an elderly person or a woman being attacked and you don’t step in, you’re not a man. Sorry, not sorry.
If you need to be the one to take the beating to protect someone weaker than you, that’s what you do. You don’t have to be an apex predator, pipe-hitting, Delta Force guy to step in. Would it help? Of course, but that’s not a requirement. You just need to be brave. Be courageous. Be a protector.
Calling the police is only part of what needs to be done. If there is a threat to someone, it is probably going to be over before the police have time to respond. You have an obligation to step in. You don’t have to have a gun. You don’t even need to believe in guns. But you need to step in. Grab a pipe, or a chair, or whatever you can, or just use your damn fists, but you need to do something. Inaction is not an option.
We all would like to think we would act like Liam Neeson in the Taken movies if our family was threatened. Or the off duty Border Patrol Agent in Uvalde who threw on his kit and went into that school. Or Christian Craighead the SAS Operative who put on his kit in Nairobi and killed five bad guys in a hotel all by himself (look that one up). The reality is, most people aren’t, but you don’t have to be.
You just have to be willing. You just have to show some courage. You just have to step in. You just have to MAN UP.
