Protecting Sources
That’s the lie the leadership of the Federal Bureau of Investigations is using. “They were protecting their sources” in the aftermath of January 6th.
What they are counting on as they concern themselves with perjury charges, is both the ignorance and trust of the American people. They are hoping, desperately, the American people believe they had “no choice” but to lie under oath to protect those 26 informants we now know were on the ground that day. They are also counting on the fact that Americans trust their judgement and that the “Bureau” would never do anything illicit or illegal.
Sorry pal, those days are over.
The American public is too well informed to rely on any level of ignorance. We are beyond the heroic images of Elliot Ness and Herbert Hoover we grew up with from television and movies. We know, especially now, so many things we have been told over the years have been lies and coverups from government agencies. In the information age, we do our research. We don’t rely on the State Run Media that has been co-opted by the Clintons, Obamas, Bidens, and DNC.
We read. We listen. We submit FOIA applications. We screenshot social media. WE REMEMBER.
And we damn sure don’t abide by the old adage “Ignorance is bliss”.
Likewise, the American public has been burned too many times to trust our own government at face value. Yeah, it sucks to be anywhere in a Federal agency right now, because your predecessors and your current leadership has significantly damaged your collective reputations. We’ve been listening to “Lone Gunman on the Grassy Knoll” for sixty years and no one buys it. We listened to “Russian Collusion” until it was proved a scam. We are still listening to lies about Secretary Clinton’s email server and no one believes it. The latest lie was from President Clinton, by the way, adding to the mistrust of ANYONE associated with the government.
“Protecting Sources” is just the latest example.
Christopher Wray and the current leadership of the FBI lied to Congress and to the American people. Do NOT believe they were misunderstood, or they misspoke regarding undercover agents versus informants or sources. They knew EXACTLY the guidance they were giving to their subordinates, and they knew EXACTLY the testimony they were giving. They knew they were hiding behind “Protecting Sources” and hoped it would pass muster.
Beyond adding to the “Don’t Trust the Government” narrative, do you know what that tells me?
Protecting their informants was MORE IMPORTANT than telling America the truth. Even as this escalated and Congress got involved and the American public demanded answers, they thought protecting those 26 people was more important that telling the truth about an incident being labeled as “worse than 9/11”. That’s a problem.
Protection of sources, or informants, is a necessary part of law enforcement, intelligence gathering, and journalism. I get that. But, somewhere, someone with a brain should have realized this was an issue of National importance and informing the American public was the priority.
But they didn’t, which is why no one trusts them anymore. That’s why, whether they are true or not, the conspiracy theories about things like J6 persist. That’s why many people consider them to be suspect in everything they do. When you hide something, and you deflect, and you get caught, and you still deflect… you lose the faith and trust of the American people.
That’s what the FBI has done. They have lost the faith and trust of the American people.
And it is because of shitty leadership. Period.
They will tell you it is based on principals. They will tell you it is so their informants won’t lose faith in them and jeopardize the program. They will tell you it was an obligation. They will convince you that is normal. It’s all a lie.
Their culture is to protect the Bureau above all else, including the American public. Their leadership has become politicized, much like Department of Defense, and it has poisoned the organization. They have allowed their culture to become insular where unless you’re an “FBI guy”, you don’t understand. They haven’t become weaponized, they have ALLOWED THEMSELVES to become weaponized.
The FBI is a shell of its former self and it is a shame. It should be embarrassing for any agent that their leadership has allowed this to happen. The agents who are out there risking their ass on a daily basis should be appalled they are being led by men who hide behind things like “Protecting Sources” or don’t have enough brains to realize when something as important as J6 happens, they need to TELL THE TRUTH.
And those same brave agents, the ones out there carrying a gun and wearing a vest, who are putting their lives on the line must realize there is no way their leadership would protect them in a similar situation. If a shoot goes bad, and an agent’s career is at risk, there is not a chance in hell that leadership like this would allow them to hide behind something as simple as “Protecting Sources”.
