Really Bongino?

An act of “ideologically motivated violence”.

That’s how the Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations classified what happened in Boulder, Colorado this weekend.

Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national in the United States on an expired visa, stood outside and used a makeshift FLAMETHROWER to light people ON FIRE while he yelled “Free Palestine!”

Ideologically motivated violence. That’s what he called it.

The people he attacked were a pro-Israeli group who were advocating for the release of hostages being held by Hamas. Non-violent people. Eight people were injured, one critically. They were between the ages of 52 and 88.

Eighty-eight years old. Lit on fire.

The FBI itself called it a “targeted terror attack”. FBI Director Patel called it a “targeted terror attack.”

Bongino called it “ideologically motivated violence”. Not a hate crime. Not terrorism. Not a targeted terror attack. Ideologically motivated violence.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how things get watered down. It’s not quite as bad as “mostly peaceful protests” but it is close.

Bongino spent the last few years grooming his tough guy image and lambasting politicians and law enforcement officials for being soft on crime. He’s been banging on a desk and yelling into a microphone and pointing at a television camera and talking about “soft on crime policies”.

His show was called “Unfiltered with Dan Bongino”. Yeah, well, “Ideologically Motivated Violence” sounds pretty damn filtered to me.

What is going on in South Africa right now could be classified as “Ideologically Motivated Violence”. No, that’s the massacre of white farmers. You don’t sugarcoat this stuff.

Yes, people will defend him as trying not to taint the investigation. They will say he is being cautious with his words. They will say he is maintaining a level of professionalism.

Bullshit. His boss and his entire organization said it is a targeted terror attack. Get onboard. You had a fanbase that listened to you because you didn’t talk like a politician. Now you talk like a politician.

At the worst time. At a time when you should be strong in your words and your conviction. A time when you should be unfiltered. You sound like a politician.

Ideologically motivated violence sounds like something AOC would say … and defend. It sounds like something Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer would say … and defend. It sounds like something Kamala would say between uncomfortable cackles. It sounds like something the mainstream media would say.

Except it came from the Deputy Director of the FBI. That will become a bargaining chip for Solman’s defense team. Those words will echo through the negotiation to lessen charges and in the courtroom to sway the jury and, likely, to attempt to reduce the prison sentence after he is guilty.

“It wasn’t a hate crime, your honor. This wasn’t terrorism. The Deputy Director of the FBI said it himself this was a difference in ideology that resulted in violence.”

Sounds lot better than trying to burn someone alive. Or domestic terrorism. Or a hate crime.

The sad part is Bogino knows better. He is media savvy. He isn’t untrained and doesn’t bumble because of a microphone. He CANNOT soften his stance now that he is in the Deputy Director’s office. He simply can’t. That’s not why people cheered when he was brought into the Bureau. They wanted the tough guy cop and Secret Service Agent.

What they got was “ideologically motivated violence”. A politician’s answer.

He needs to get his head back on straight. He needs to be the guy everyone wanted BEFORE he put the suit and tie back on. We can’t have MORE of this political bullshit from him.

We can’t keep saying … Really Bongino?
