The Over/Under

I’m not talking about sports betting.

I’m talking about the reaction to classified documents being found. The question is, did we overreact to the suspicion that President Trump had classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, or are we underreacting to the actual finding of classified documents at the Penn Biden Center? The reaction certainly hasn’t been the same.

Upon a report of classified documents suspected to be at Mar-a-Lago, the Department of Justice mobilized the FBI and conducted a raid. Keep in mind, as President, you are authorized access to EVERYTHING. There is not compartment, program, or level of classification that you do not have access to. None. Also keep in mind, this raid was conducted about seven months after President Trump left the White House.

The documents, by most reports, were still in boxes, mixed in with other personal and professional papers, and hadn’t even been unpacked. Since the President and his family don’t pack out the White House before they leave, the documents were most likely snatched up with the rest of the papers, shoved in boxes, and shipped out by a bunch of staffers who weren’t digging through the President’s stuff when they did it.

So, based on a report of classified documents being stored inappropriately, the FBI conducted a raid. Yeah, that was the reaction. They went into a former President’s house and raided it. To find boxes of random documents. That hadn’t been unpacked.

The world, including the now sitting President Biden, flipped out once the documents were found. Irresponsible, Illegal, Negligent. Those words were used repeatedly by the White House, Democrats, some Republicans, and the main stream media.

Fast Forward.

Documents were found at the Penn Biden Center as they are getting ready to vacate the premises. I’ve heard it was lawyers that found them. Honestly, I don’t know. The documents were found in a locked closet. Some of them were marked as classified. The national archives was contacted. The documents have been, or are being, turned in.

It’s been AT LEAST two years since President Biden used that office. Those documents are from when he was the Vice President. It’s been at least six years since he was in that office. Those documents have been inappropriately stored and possessed for at least six years. How many classified documents were there? We don’t know. What level of classification were they? We don’t know. Did (then) Vice President Biden have appropriate access to those documents? We don’t know. Unlike the President, the Vice President does NOT have carte blanche when it comes to classified information.

So, we know there are documents out there that came from (now) President Biden’s personal files after he left office. How many are there? Are there more? Have we checked his house in Delaware? Are we going to?

On suspicion, we conducted a fully armed raid by the FBI. On confirmation, we have done nothing but nod our heads.

I wrote a blog last year about this. It was called “Good For No One”. You should go back and read it. I talked about how the DOJ and FBI had been weaponized and how we were opening Pandora’s Box. Based on the reaction, or lack of, by the White House, the media, and the DOJ, I can happily say I was at least half right. We haven’t seen the inside of Pandora’s Box yet.

Curious where all the people are that wanted President Trump prosecuted. Everyone who said “if you break the law you should be held accountable”. Still singing the same tune? Yeah. Thought not.

The question is…are we overreacting or underreacting to this?
