The Real Suckers and Losers - The Atlantic
Yes, it’s the famous line that has always been challenged. The claim that in 2018 President Trump called deceased American servicemembers buried in the Aisne-Marne Cemetary “suckers” and “losers”. Did you know it came from anonymous sources? Do you know who the journalist was that wrote that story? His name is Jeffrey Goldberg. Do you know what he does now? He is the editor in chief of The Atlantic.
Mr. Goldberg, in one of the most disgusting acts I can remember, recently wrote an article accusing President Trump of more disparaging remarks about a deceased American servicemember. Why is it so disgusting? Because the entire article is a lie, and it was done for blatant political purpose.
The deceased servicemember is Vanessa Guillen. She was a Soldier at Fort Hood, now known as Fort Cavazos, and was murdered by another Soldier. This occurred in 2020. After her remains were found, President Trump invited her family to the White House and sat with them. He consoled them and offered to pay for Vanessa’s entire funeral. The family was, and is, very appreciative of President Trump.
Mr. Goldberg, the asshat-in-chief at The Atlantic, wrote an article about the actions of President Trump and his interaction with the Guillen family. Goldberg cited the family attorney, Natalie Khawam, saying she told Golberg President Trump refused to pay for the funeral AND made an extremely racist remark in the process. The bill for the funeral was $60k. The misquote of President Trump was that he reacted by saying “It doesn’t cost sixty thousand bucks to bury a f***ing Mexican"!”
Here is the problem…Natalie Khawam said Goldberg’s representation of their conversation is a COMPLETE LIE. In perfect lawyer fashion, she followed it up with another question…asking why the story comes out NOW when the supposed conversation occurred FOUR YEARS AGO. She said the timing of the story is “quite suspicious”. She’s not wrong.
Ms. Khawam also pointed out that President Trump invited her clients to the Oval Office. He supported the military. He supported the passing of the “I Am Vanessa Guillen Act”, which criminalizes sexual harassment under the military justice system.
The Guillen family isn’t happy about the political exploitation of Vanessa, either. Her sister Mayra lashed out at Goldberg on X, saying that not only did President Trump show nothing but respect to her family, but she also voted for President Trump. Do you think she would have done that if President Trump had NOT paid for the funeral as Goldberg claims? She also said she didn’t appreciate Goldberg exploiting her sister’s death for politics.
In the Goldberg article, he claimed that former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows was the one in the Oval Office when President Trump went on a tirade about the funeral cost and made the supposed racist statement, even saying Trump ordered Meadows NOT to pay for the funeral. Here’s the problem, all of this has been denied by Meadows, Christopher Miller (acting SECDEF) and Miller’s Chief of Staff Kash Patel.
Meadows has classified all of this as a “hit piece” against President Trump and the claims about President Trump are “absolutely false”. Ben Williamson is the spokesman for Mark Meadows and his response to the Goldberg article is “Treat this dishonest piece accordingly”. If everyone in the room denies he said it…where did Goldberg come up with this?
There is more evidence and more first-hand accounts that this, and other parts of the Goldberg article, are complete falsehoods, but you get the picture. The guy is NOT a journalist. The Atlantic needs to FIRE HIM immediately. People like him are the reason no one trusts the media.
If you are one of the people who actually believes President Trump said “suckers” and “losers”, I encourage you to reevaluate. Check the validity of the source. Clearly Mr. Goldberg is, at a minimum, unreliable as a source. At a maximum, he is a piece of shit and a liar.
I also encourage anyone who subscribes to The Atlantic to cancel your subscription. Immediately. As long as Golberg is the editor in chief, no one should pay for that trash. You can’t trust a single thing they print if he is in charge. It is all suspect.
In light of this revelation about Mr. Golberg and his propensity to make things up, and print them as if they are the truth, the Harris-Walz Campaign, the Biden Administration, and the entire Democratic Party should immediately STOP using that quote. It is even less reliable than it was before now, even though half the country didn’t believe it to begin with. Mr. Goldberg and his reputation have made that quote invalid, by his own lack of integrity.
The Atlantic needs to remove Mr. Goldberg. Their board of directors, or whatever administrative body they have, should be protecting their product and their name, because Mr. Goldberg has made The Atlantic to be The Real Suckers and Losers.
