Whispered Insults of Keyboard Warriors
There are plenty of insults being hurled around by the “party of love” as of late. Often enough, they are being SCREAMED publicly, whether it is directed at a Tesla owner, a person wearing a red hat, or anyone else who leans right.
And I am not saying conservatives are immune or innocent of tossing out some insults at the left. It definitely happens, but from my experience those are more often retaliatory and not “shoot first” incidents.
Those types of insults, loud and in public, aren’t the ones that bother me. The ones said quietly and behind closed doors are the ones that cause some concern.
“Remove voter ID laws! They restrict people’s right to vote!” Quietly: Clearly these people are uneducated, and they aren’t smart enough to navigate the system, so just get rid of the requirement. TOTAL INSULT.
“Tariffs are terrible for the average American! They are losing retirement money!” Quietly: These people don’t understand investing and have taken risks they shouldn’t, so we should protect them from themselves. TOTAL INSULT.
“People need vaccinations to protect them from all these new viruses!” Quietly: People are incapable of doing their own research and making educated decisions. We will just make them all mandatory whether they like it or not. TOTAL INSULT.
Mostly, those types of quiet insults just reinforce the Nanny State mentality. As annoying and unAmerican as that is, it isn’t going away anytime soon. The left thrives on it, and it is how they have historically inched closer to imposing outright socialism here in the United States. They pushed the limits during COVID, to the point even some liberal Americans began to push back.
The environment is changing, however. And these quiet, discrete insults from those Keyboard Warriors are becoming more and more antagonistic. For the most part, that still isn’t much of a concern. People are very brave on the internet, but in real life so many of them are truly cowards. However, with the assassination attempts on President Trump, the increased violence aimed at Tesla dealers, owners, and charging stations, and the assassination of the United Healthcare CEO by Luigi Mangione, there is evidence that political violence is becoming more acceptable by Americans, and specifically, by liberals.
An organization called the Network Contagion Research Institute conducted a survey of 1200 adults and what they found was shocking.
It is becoming increasingly more acceptable, and even applauded, when people discuss assassinating key figures in the name of politics. They are tracing it back, specifically, to the Mangione assassination but they are seeing increasing sentiments about killing President Trump and Elon Musk. They are also seeing a significant difference in these sentiments between liberals and conservatives.
While people who lean both left and right are guilty of these irrational violent sentiments, the numbers are skewed much more left than right. What does that mean? The party of love and acceptance is significantly MORE likely to commit and support violence AGAINST their opposition than conservatives are.
I know, I know… many of us knew this was a reality but now there is a study to support what we already knew.
As scary as this seems to many people, and it should, you really need to consider the source and what they are up against. Yes, starting in 2020 there was an increase in rioting and violence. We started to see “organized” elements of ANTIFA punks in their black outfits with their trash can shields. “Mostly” peaceful protests became a thing.
There was also the first evidence of conservative resistance. Anyone remember Kyle Rittenhouse? And then Daniel Penny? This is where the gaslighting will come in.
The same people who will advocate for violence against Tesla, Musk, Trump, or anything else conservative will turn around and attack you for “supporting” people like Rittenhouse and Penny. Yes, that’s their MO… advocate for violence and then condemn you for doing the same. Then again, that has ALWAYS been their MO.
As much as NCRI wants you to believe the level of violence is going to continue increasing, I don’t believe it. Yes, the internet is going to do what the internet does. People are going to rile each other up. People who would normally NEVER advocate or endorse violence will certainly be emboldened by their internet anonymity. Maybe there will even be people who will actively pursue violence that never would have before.
Maybe.
But there are always plenty of Daniel Pennys. And there are more Kyle Rittenhouses. And while the left continues to preach and support and increasingly cheer for violence….they are NOT violent people by nature. In some cases, crazy. In other cases, angry. In PLENTY of cases, mentally unstable. But most of them are NOT naturally violent people.
And there are plenty of people on the right to keep them in check. It sounds cavalier, but most of the men and women who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan are conservatives. Those are the people who don’t WANT violence but are CAPABLE of it. Most police officers and first responders are conservatives. They don’t WANT violence either. But they will if provoked.
So, if there IS a spike in violence, there will be a response that swings the pendulum back to where it should be. Of this, I have no doubt. If nothing else, America has proved it is pretty self-policing.
So, take that study for what it is worth. Keep your eyes peeled. Stay alert. And let’s keep the violence to a minimum… maybe just the Whispered Insults of the Keyboard Warriors.
